The Trials and Tribulations of Practising Family Law in a Clinical Environment

The Family Law Assistance Program is a specialised clinical program running out of Monash Law Clinics Clayton. This paper examines the challenges of practicing family law within a clinical environment and suggests that a family law program creates challenges which either do not exist in a general program or are exacerbated in the family law context.  These challenges extend to the emotional toll which family law takes on the supervisor and the student.  This paper will make some practical suggestions and strategies for dealing with these ‘trials and tribulations’.
