From Law Clinic to Legislation: Using Law Reform and Legislative Drafting Clinics as LLB course options in University Law Schools.

In this paper we outline how the 2015/2016 pilot law reform clinic at the University of Canterbury (NZ) Law School was implemented, explaining the sequential methodology used to identify, refer, research and action law reform issues. As an example, the very successful UC Law Clinic law reform project (implemented in association with Anglican Advocacy, Christchurch) that ultimately resulted in the amendment of s 78(2) of the New Zealand Residential Tenancies Act in 2016, is described.
