How do Work Integrated Learning ‘projects’ connect with clinical legal education?

Work Integrated Learning (WIL) is an umbrella term which can encompass a variety of experiential activities. In addition to clinical legal education, the Law Faculty of Monash University offers law students the opportunity to be involved in WIL ‘projects’ in which students work with industry partners on a project with a ‘real world’ deliverable, but are not physically placed in a real work environment. This presentation discusses and analyses WIL projects and asks what the pedagogical outcomes are, whether they share the same characteristics of clinic and what value do they add to student learning in the law curriculum.
