Supervision-Field supervisor as teacher

Supervision: Field supervisors as teachers

As our students collaborate with organizations outside the law school to learn lawyering, it is critical that schools provide supervision, oversight, and training to our students’ supervisors. This facilitated conversation considers what supervision means, what our rules require, and what shared techniques are effective for ensuring that our students are seen, heard, and supported in their field placements.  Attendees will leave with a list of best practices to incorporate into their training and oversight of field supervisors with the goal of encouraging supervisors to embrace their role as teachers.
