Attendance on campus is strictly limited to permitted workers and exempt students; face masks must be worn at all times. If unwell, get tested and do not come to campus. View our latest COVID-19 updates.
The Learning and Teaching Building will be open to all Monash students and staff. The building is a physical demonstration of our commitment to Better Teaching and Better Learning and will feature learning spaces specifically developed to support the student learning experience.
An extensive network of more than 60 formal and informal learning and teaching spaces will provide an outstanding student-centred learning experience for Monash University and Monash College Diploma students alike. Many classes will be taught in the new building and there will be a number of study spaces and meeting rooms available for you to book. The ground floor will also house a new café to keep you sustained while you study and work.
The new building will also be home to the Faculty of Education and the Office of the Vice-Provost (Learning and Teaching).
Given the location of the Learning and Teaching Building construction site on Clayton campus, there will be some impacts on staff, students and neighbours during construction.
The construction will occur in stages, and impacts will differ with each stage. At times, there will be changes to pedestrian, cycle and traffic routes in the vicinity of the construction site, however, alternative routes will be provided and clearly marked. There will also be changes to car parking in the vicinity of the construction site throughout project works.
As with any major construction, there is likely to be some disruption from noise, however, we will work with stakeholders to keep this disruption to a minimum.
Bus services will continue to operate throughout project works, however, there will be some changes to the location of bus stops within the loop. Check the Monash Transport Interchange website for the latest bus stop locations.
Yes, you'll still be able to walk around the campus but a section of Ancora Imparo Way will be blocked for part of the construction. We'll erect signage and walkways to guide you. Once construction is complete, pedestrian access along Ancora Imparo Way will pass through the new building.
A section of Ancora Imparo Way was closed permanently in early 2016 to allow for construction of the Learning and Teaching Building. Ancora Imparo Way is closed to vehicle traffic at Exhibition Walk on the east side of the campus, and at Rainforest Walk on the west side of the campus. At these two points, vehicles will need to execute a U-turn to exit.
To access the southwest side of the campus by vehicle after the road closure please follow these instructions from the relevant entry point:
Main entrance on Wellington Road – travel down Scenic Boulevard, turn left onto Research Way, then left onto Boundary Road
Northwest entrance on Bayview Avenue – turn right onto Boundary Road
Northeast entrance on Normanby Avenue – travel down Scenic Boulevard, turn right onto Research Way, then left onto Boundary Road
Monash College entrance on Wellington Road – if you're travelling from the west, turn left onto Innovation Walk.
