What is the Monash Doctoral Day (MDD)?

The Monash University Doctoral Program Information Day is a free event that offers prospective PhD students the opportunity to meet with leading Monash experts to find out more about the Monash Doctoral Program and how it can support students in career advancement or academic progression.

In it's fourth year, the 2019 event was held on Sunday, 8th of September 2019, 9:00am to 5:00pm at the Fairmont Hotel in Jakarta.

The event brought together different faculties with STEM and Humanities and Social Science expertise.

The event included an Expo with one-on-one consultations with Monash academics and staff, and information sessions by Monash experts about:

  • The Monash Doctoral Program, including advice on finding a supervisor and Monash scholarships
  • How to fund your studies, with representatives from Australian and Indonesian scholarship agencies
  • Insights from Monash alumni on their experiences

Free IELTS workshop

This year, the Indonesia Australia Language Foundation (IALF) held a free IELTS workshop on How to improve your IELTS score.

Book launch - Roller Coaster Empat Musim: Lika-liku Perjalanan Studi Doktoral Mahasiswa Indonesia di Australia (Roller Coaster Four Seasons: Twists and Turns of Indonesian Doctoral Students' Life in Australia)

Indonesian Alumni as part of the Social Researchers Forum (SRF) launched a new book detailing their experiences as PhD students in Australia. The book features a foreword from Professor Ariel Heryanto, Herb Feith Professor for the Study of Indonesia, and Director of the Monash Herb Feith Indonesian Engagement centre, and 20 contributing authors from the Faculty of Arts, Education and Information Technology. The authors provide insight into their individual experiences, challenges, tips and what they have learned during their study.
