Why did you decide to study science?
I was actually super uncertain coming out of high school but I knew that I wanted the uni experience and I loooved maths in year twelve so here we are I suppose! Never looked back.
What made you choose Monash Uni in particular?
Initially, it was for the double degree option, but the longer I spend here the more I enjoy basically everything about it! It’s an awesome mix of challenging and rewarding subjects as well as being a super chill place to be.
What's your favourite aspect of studying science?
Honestly, the challenge. Every unit I’ve done so far has been at a level of difficulty that I’m learning heaps but also manageable. Also, awesome programs like Student Ambassadors, where you meet so many like-minded, inspiring people.
What do you plan to do when you graduate?
One big, sweet, juicy, scrumptious trip around the world. After that, I’ll probably look at getting into some form of corporate work or else go back and study teaching!
What has been the highlight of your science degree so far?
The essay I wrote in my second year Mathematics unit: ‘The Nature and Beauty of Mathematics’. It was about how maths is music and music is maths. It brought together my two great loves in the world and it was a joy to write (take MTH2132 if you can!!!).
What's the biggest misconception you had about studying science before you started your course?
The biggest thing I’ve realised is that your degree doesn’t need to dictate your career. It doesn’t necessarily matter exactly what you study, so long as you do study. You will find something great to do afterwards, regardless of what you decide to do.
If you were to give some advice to someone who's thinking about studying at Monash Science, what would you say?
