Monash Immersive Learning Experiences (MILEstones)
Are you looking for an immersive study experience during the summer or winter break? Or perhaps you want to gain some extra credits before or after your semester at Monash?
Monash Immersive Learning Experiences, or MILEstones, might be for you.
What will I study?
MILEstones are signature block-mode units at Monash with an emphasis on hands-on learning, through practical activities and/or field trips.
You could be in a team learning about Australian businesses in a global context, with visits to local industry and tourism sites (BEX2722), or developing your undergraduate research skills with other Monash students to prepare yourself for postgraduate studies or a career in research (ATS2290).
MILEstones are available across multiple faculties, and although usually three to four weeks in duration, offer the same number of credit points as a semester-length unit. As these units are taught during the summer and winter break, they can easily be paired with another Study Abroad program at Monash, or studied as a standalone experience.
MILEstones units are delivered intensively in block mode during the following periods:
January/February 2021 (Summer)
- Block 1: 4 January - 22 January
- Block 2: 25 January -12 February
June/July 2021 (Winter)
- 28 June – 16 July
Some examples of MILEstones units you could study include:
- ATS2269 – Contemporary Australia and its cultures: peoples, places, identities (January/February, June/July)
- BEX2722 – Engaging with international business - Australia (January/February)
- ATS2290 – Interdisciplinary research collaboration (June/July)
The unit information listed above is based on the 2021 Monash Handbook. Before you list a unit on your study plan, please ensure you meet the unit's prerequisites and have a look at our academic considerations.
