Global Summer and Winter Programs
What are Global Summer Programs (GSP) and Global Winter Programs (GWP)?
Study for a short period overseas, in either the Monash summer (December-February) or winter (June-July) breaks. These experiences are usually worth between 6 and 12 credits, depending on the duration of the program
How do they work?
There are three different participation modes for summer and winter schools. These modes determine how you are enrolled, and how costs and fees are paid. The mode of delivery may also impact how you apply.
Where can I go?
Refer to the Monash Abroad Portal (MAP) Global Summer and Winter Programs website for available program options.
As of 1 January 2020, only GSPs and GWPs that have been pre-approved by Monash Abroad and available in the MAP can be taken. This is to ensure the quality and timeliness of the programs available to students.
GWPs are usually promoted from late February, and GSPs, are promoted from late July. Only faculty and Monash Abroad approved summer and winter school options are available.
How much will it cost?
Program costs will vary depending on the participation mode, program duration, destination and host institution.
For more information about program costs, refer to the MAP program brochure page of your preferred program.
Important note: Do not pay any deposits (where relevant), or organise flights until you have received Monash Abroad approval. Monash Abroad will not be held responsible for any costs incurred as a result of an unsuccessful application.
Check that you meet the eligibility requirements for overseas study;
- 60+ WAM at time of application,
- 24 credit points achieved at the time of application and 48 credits achieved at time of departure,
Law undergraduate students need to have completed 48 credit points of law compulsory units and Law postgraduate students need to have completed 72 credit points of law compulsory units at the time of their GSPs and GWPs application.
- You may also be required to meet additional faculty and host/partner eligibility requirements
How to Apply

For all GSP and GWP, the application process involves two steps:
Step 1: apply for your preferred program through the Monash Abroad Portal program brochure.
Step 2: if approved, apply directly to the program host.
