How to apply for semester-length programs

You must seek course progression advice from your faculty to discuss the possibility of undertaking a semester abroad program. If you are a double degree student, then you must contact both your managing faculty and your non-managing faculty to discuss applying for a semester abroad program.

1. Are you doing your overseas study for credit in Arts, Education, Information Technology, Law, MADA, MNHS (except Biomedical Science) or Science? If yes, read Section 1 below and follow the instructions.
2. Are you doing your overseas study for credit in Biomedical Science, Business and Economics, Engineering and Pharmacy? If yes, read Section 2 and follow those instructions.
3. Are you a double degree student who is doing their overseas study for credit in a faculty in question 1 AND question 2? If yes, please follow the instructions in the relevant sections.

Section 1
You MUST request a Course Progression Check (CPC) by completing the Course progression check request form.

Write in the comments section "Will an exchange/study abroad in semester 1, 2021 fit in with my course progression?" If you are a double degree student and intend to study units contributing to one only or to both sides of your degree, include this information in the comments section Course progression check request form.

Section 2
You do NOT need to request a Course Progression Check but you must create a MonPlan (the new online course planning tool), and send it for faculty validation. When creating your MonPlan, please select the Study Overseas (inc. exchange) option when you request faculty review.

You will be required to upload your CPC and/or MonPlan with your application.

Whilst on exchange, you are required to study a full-time load at your host institution (equivalent to 18 - 24 Monash credits), though your faculty may require you to take the equivalent of 24 Monash credits. Please note;

• not all units are created equal, so your faculty may require you to take two (or three) units at the host to make up the equivalent of one Monash unit (6 credits).
• if you are unable to find sufficient relevant units to make up the equivalent full-time load at your host institution, you can request to study a reduced load (the equivalent of 18 units at Monash). Please discuss this option with your Faculty Adviser before completing your Study Plan.
