The Monash Clinical Legal Education Program not only provides free legal advice to people who can’t afford representation or aren’t eligible for publicly funded legal aid, but also gives hundreds of law students the chance to interact with clients and deal with real cases. And it is for both these reasons, Andrew Marks is leaving a gift in his Will to support the program.

Andrew graduated from Monash Law School in 1976, before the legal clinic program began and believes that this hands-on experience was something that would have been invaluable to his education.

Andrew believes that the law “is about saving lives and assisting people, not just corporates” and that “working in the community legal clinics humanises what is taught at Monash.”

“That’s why I’m so pleased to support this program,” he says. “Because it expands the experience of students and gives them a real world understanding that is of great benefit, irrespective of what branch of law they go into.”
