Indian Sound Recordings

The Indian Sound Recordings collection is the largest of its kind in Australia. Over 100 traditional vocal and instrumental music recordings supported Indian music courses taught at Monash in the 1970s and 1980s when the School of Music regularly hosted visitors such as Ashok Roy. These recordings are individually catalogued. More recent additions include over 90 very rare early Indian 78 rpm recordings (1903 -1930) and over 200 traditional Indian music records from the 1930s.
