Research and career opportunities

The Department of General Practice is a globally recognised department and national leader in research and education in primary care.

Our model for primary care research training uniquely addresses the gap between general research training and the skills and knowledge needed to effectively conduct research and impact upon policy and practice in the primary care setting.

For more information, see the research training or contact the research training coordinator Dr Chris Barton.

Teaching medical students at the Department of General Practice is a rewarding career choice giving both flexibility and opportunities. As educators in the Department or in the clinical environment, we provide students with a breadth of practical experience in a positive environment focusing on evidence-based, patient-centred, holistic care. These roles provide the opportunity to educate, motivate and shape the next generation of doctors and the nature of future practice in medical care.
