Study

The Department of General Practice offers learning programs that focus on the integration of communication, clinical skills and clinical reasoning. It is our aim to foster the next generation of general practice researchers and practitioners, and to enhance evidence-based patient care and policy decisions.

We offer a positive learning environment for all our students, and offer a specialised research training program to those students who want to affect change and improvement in general practice in an area of their interest. The research training program is fully supported by faculty staff and encourages students to explore a topic of general medicine they are passionate about.

The Department also offers MD students 6-week scholarly placements throughout the year, giving them valuable firsthand experience in a clinical environment. The Department also operates a General Practice Students Network (GPSN), a student-run network facilitated by the General Practice Registrars Australia (GPRA) head office. GPSN offers programs and resources that include fun clinical skill sessions, social events, seminars and conferences, peer support and networking opportunities.
