Roadmap to reopening
We're committed to following government guidelines when reopening our Australian campuses to ensure the health and safety of the Monash community.
The University’s COVIDSafe principles must be adhered to all times:
- Staying away if unwell and/or displaying any COVID symptoms (even the most mild of symptoms), and continuing to act quickly if a person becomes unwell
- Ensuring physical distancing
- Carrying a face mask at all times
- Promoting hand and respiratory hygiene practices
- Increased cleaning
- Registering attendance for contact tracing purposes
COVIDSafe Summer – current
Effective from 11:59pm on Sunday 6 December 2020. These restrictions are expected to be in place for summer. The restrictions will be reviewed regularly by the Victorian Government to ensure they reflect current public health advice.
Conditions of entry:
- In line with government advice, face masks are not mandated in offices or locations on campus, however you must carry one at all times.
- When physical distancing of 1.5 metres cannot be maintained, it is strongly recommended you continue to wear a face mask both indoors and outdoors.
- Swiping your Monash ID card on the door reader every time you enter a building, and QR code
- COVIDSafe training module completion
- For essential activities that require people to come within 1.5m of one another, a risk assessment must be undertaken and additional safety measures implemented including reducing the time of the activity, the size of groups and the provision of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Where the University has conducted a risk assessment and deemed that a surgical, or other grade, mask is required, the University will supply this
COVID Normal
Move from COVIDSafe Summer to COVID Normal, as directed by the Victorian Government.
Conditions of entry:
- Mask wearing aligned to DHHS requirements at the time
- COVIDSafe training module continues

Campus and building access
Only some of our buildings and facilities are currently open. Our campus maps will be updated as building access changes. We encourage you to check access to specific buildings before arriving on campus.
