High Temperature-Pressure Experimental Petrology Lab

This facility has two piston cylinder apparatus, a mixed gas furnace and four cold seal, hydrothermal bomb lines.

These facilities aim to replicate conditions within the Earth, from the near surface, throughout the crust and into the upper mantle, down to 120 km depth.

We are investigating metamorphic and igneous processes, responsible for development of the Earth’s crust, and evolution of asteroids and planets in the early solar system.
