The Microscope Laboratory houses three main types of instruments.
Reliotron III Cathodoluminescence instrument: Using CL can provide insight into processes such as crystal growth, replacement, deformation and provenance. Read More Here
USGS Fluid Inclusion Stage: carries out routine heating/freezing measurements on fluid inclusions between -150°C and +700°C, at 0.1°C increments. The stage takes doubly polished thick sections up to 2 cm across and is connected to a video monitoring system and frame grabber. The fluid inclusion facility is available to outside users on either a collaborative or contractual basis.
